How to Trade on IQ Option: A Beginner Guide for the Philippines
This guide takes you from the free demo account to your first trade on IQ Option, where the minimum trade on a peso account is ₱50. Options and CFDs both carry a high risk of losing your money, so practise on the demo first.
What IQ Option trading is
IQ Option offers two kinds of products: options, which are the simpler place to start, and CFDs, which are more complex.
| Product | How it works |
|---|---|
| Options (Digital, Binary, Blitz) | You pick Higher or Lower and an expiry time, and the ticket shows the payout before you buy. If you are right you get that profit, and if you are wrong you lose the amount of that trade. |
| CFDs (called Margin CFD in the app) | You trade the price change of forex, stocks, crypto, ETFs, commodities or indices without owning the asset. Leverage lets a small amount control a bigger position, which makes gains and losses larger. |
This guide covers options. The ₱50 minimum was shown on the Binary and Blitz tickets we checked, and some assets carry the label OTC, which the OTC section below explains.
Start on the demo account
Every account comes with $10,000 in virtual money that is free, needs no deposit and can be topped up when the balance gets low. The prices are real market prices, but no real money is used.
To switch between demo and real, click the balance at the top of the trading screen and choose Practice or Real.
What the demo cannot teach you
It cannot copy how you feel when the money is yours, and many people trade differently once their own pesos are on the line. Use the demo to learn the screen, test one simple plan and see whether you can follow your own rules, then decide whether real trading is right for you at all.
Our accounts guide covers demo, real and VIP accounts, and the login guide shows how to sign up.
Open free demo accountYour first trade, step by step
The trade ticket sits on the right side of the chart, and the steps below use the USD/PHP (OTC) Blitz option from our peso account.
- Click the + at the top left of the screen and choose an asset, for example USD/PHP (OTC).
- Type the amount in the Invest box. The minimum is ₱50.
- Check the Expiration box, which showed 30 seconds in our Blitz example.
- Read the Profit figure before you click, which shows a percentage and an amount in pesos: in our example, ₱50 at 85% shows +₱42.50.
- Click Higher (green) if you expect the price at expiry to be above the price now. Click Lower (red) if you expect it to be below.
- Wait for the expiry time and check the result in the Total portfolio panel: a correct call pays the profit you saw, and a wrong call loses the amount you invested.

If you type an amount below the minimum, the platform shows a red message instead of opening the trade.

Know the trading screen
The chart is in the middle, with the other controls around it.
Top bar
Tabs show the assets you have open, and the + button adds another. Your balance and the green Deposit button are at the top right. The deposit and withdrawal guide covers payments.
Left menu
The side menu holds Total portfolio, Trading history, Performance dashboard, Chats and support, Tutorials, Promo, Leader board and More.
Chart
The chart can be a line, candles, bars or Heikin-Ashi, and candles show the open, high, low and close of each period, so they tell you more than a line. Small tool buttons on the left edge of the chart hold drawing tools and indicators.
Trade ticket
Invest, Expiration and Profit sit on the right, with the Higher and Lower buttons below them, and the profit percentage you see when you click is the one that applies to that trade.
Bottom bar
The Total portfolio panel lists open trades, and the bottom bar shows a Support button, the support email and the current time in UTC+8, which is Manila time. Live chat support runs every day around the clock.
Binary, Digital, Blitz and Turbo compared
All of them show you the numbers before you buy, and the difference is in how the payout is set.
| Type | Expiry | Payout |
|---|---|---|
| Binary (includes Turbo) | Turbo expiries run from 30 seconds to 5 minutes on the ticket. Daily and weekly expiries also exist. | Fixed and shown before you buy. The usual range is 70% to 90%. Example seen: AUD/JPY (OTC) at 82%, so ₱50 returns +₱41. |
| Digital | Short expiries chosen on the ticket. | You pick a direction and a strike price, and the payout depends on the strike and is shown before you buy. |
| Blitz | Very short. Our USD/PHP (OTC) example showed 30 seconds. | Fixed and shown before you buy. Example seen: USD/PHP (OTC) at 85%, so ₱50 returns +₱42.50. |
Payouts change with the asset and the moment, and the figures above come from single tickets we saw in October 2026. Turbo is the short-expiry form of Binary.
Work out your break-even rate
A winning trade pays less than 100% of the amount and a losing trade costs all of it, so you have to win more than half your trades to break even. The break-even win rate is 1 divided by (1 plus the payout), which is about 55.6% at an 80% payout.
Assets and trading hours in Manila time
The platform lists hundreds of assets across forex, stocks, crypto, ETFs, commodities and indices, and peso traders can also find USD/PHP (OTC), the pair used in our Blitz example.
The platform clock shows UTC+8, the same as Manila time, and since the Philippines does not use daylight saving it never changes. London and New York do change their clocks, and that moves the busiest hours for forex.
Forex and stock markets close at the weekend: forex closes early on Saturday morning in Manila and reopens early on Monday morning. Check the schedule of each asset on the ticket before you trade.
Busy hours only show when more orders are moving the price, and the sessions are the local 8:00 to 17:00 hours in London and in New York, converted to Manila time.
Risk per trade
Options and CFDs carry a high risk of losing your money, so trade only with money you can afford to lose.
A common rule is to risk no more than 2% of your account balance on one trade, which keeps you in the game through a losing run: ten losses in a row at 2% still leave about 82% of the balance.
The minimum trade is ₱50, so at 2% you need a balance of at least ₱2,500. With a smaller balance the minimum trade is already more than 2%.
Daily stop rules
Write your stop rules down before you use real money. These three are examples, so change the numbers to suit you, then keep them.
- Stop for the day after 3 losses in a row, and review your trades before you place another.
- Stop for the day if you are down 5% of your balance: close open trades and leave.
- Stop when you reach your daily profit target, because staying on can turn a good day into a bad one.
Signs you are trading on emotion
Tick the boxes that match you right now. If three or more apply, stop trading.
No technique guarantees a win
No indicator, signal group or system can promise profit, and paid "sure win" signals and strategies shared in social media groups do not change that. IQ Option also forbids bots built to abuse the platform and can close an account for it.
Reading the chart
No signal tells you for certain where the price will go, so traders look for odds: from current conditions, is the price more likely to rise or fall in the next few minutes?
Trend
Look at the last hour of the chart and ask whether the price is rising, falling or moving sideways. A trend often continues longer than it reverses, and trading with it filters out entries that go against the move for no reason.
Three candle patterns worth knowing
These three are common and easy to spot, so learn them on a clean chart before you add any indicator, and treat them as hints.
Doji
Unsure, possible reversalThe open and close are almost the same, so the body is tiny and the wicks are long on both sides, and buyers and sellers are evenly matched. After a long move it can mean momentum is fading, and it carries more weight at support or resistance.
Bullish engulfing
Upward momentumA large green candle covers the whole body of the red candle before it: sellers were in charge, then buyers took over with force. It carries more weight after a fall or at support. The reverse (red covers green) points down.
Bullish pin bar
Price pushed backA small body near the top and a very long lower wick: the price dropped hard, then was pushed back up and closed near the high. It carries more weight at support.
Support and resistance
Support is a price level where falls have stopped and bounced several times. Draw a flat line through the places where the lows cluster. Resistance is the opposite: a level where rises have stopped and turned back. Candle patterns mean most when they form at one of these lines.
Too many indicators is a problem
IQ Option has a large library of indicators, but start with none: each one gives its own signal, and when several disagree there is no rule for which to believe. Learn to read a plain candle chart first, then add one indicator at a time and test it on the demo.
OTC explained
Assets marked OTC, such as USD/PHP (OTC) and AUD/JPY (OTC), are offered for options trading, including when the main markets are closed.
According to IQ Option's official blog, OTC prices come from data collected from the company's liquidity partners, so OTC charts can differ from charts on other sites.
Do not use another site's chart to check an OTC price. Judge the trade by the chart and the ticket in the platform. IQ Option's terms also say the company acts as the counterparty to client trades.
Webinars and tutorials in the platform
The traderoom has a Webinars panel with live streams and recordings, with start times in UTC+8 that match Manila time. The schedule changes, so look at the panel itself for what is on.

The Tutorials menu has two guides at the top, How to trade (Binary Options) and Interface guide. Below them is a video library with these groups: Basics (10 videos), Contracts Trading (6), Margin Trading (2), Technical Analysis (11), Fundamental Analysis (5) and About Us (2). The Tutorials list can include items for other countries, so ignore any that do not apply to you.
IQ Option's blog also has a beginners' guide if you want a second view.
AI integrations (MCP)
The account settings include an AI integrations page, where you can create tokens that connect AI agents and other tools to your IQ Option account through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

- Read access is always on. A connected tool can see balances, market data and trade history, but cannot change your account.
- Trading access is optional and is set per product, for example Binary, Blitz and Digital contracts.
- Options and Margin CFD have separate endpoints, and one token works across them.

Can you make money?
Some traders do, but no one can promise you will, and trading options can lose all the money you put in.
The maths works against you a little. Take the USD/PHP Blitz example: a winning ₱50 trade pays +₱42.50, and a losing one costs ₱50. Suppose you place 100 trades and win exactly half: you win 50 times for ₱2,125 and lose 50 times for ₱2,500, which leaves you ₱375 down before any bonus rules.
At an 85% payout you must win about 54.1% of trades to break even, and everything above that is profit. Try other payouts in the break-even calculator, but winning that often over hundreds of trades takes a repeatable method and discipline.
If you do finish with profit, withdrawals need a verified account, and a deposit bonus can lock withdrawals until you meet its trading target. Read the deposit and withdrawal guide and the promo codes guide before you accept a bonus.
Mistakes beginners make
Chasing losses
Doubling the amount after a loss to win it back is called martingale. Each trade is separate from the one before it, so a losing run does not make the next trade more likely to win, and bigger bets drain the account faster.
Trading without a plan
A plan can be simple, but it must exist before you start. For example: USD/PHP (OTC), ₱50 per trade, up to 10 trades a day, stop after 3 losses in a row. A written plan stops you from deciding in the middle of a session, when emotions run high.
Watching too many assets
Each asset moves at its own pace and reacts to its own news, so jumping between four of them in one session means you do not know any of them well. Pick one or two and stay with them.
Skipping the demo
The demo works like the real account and costs nothing, so test every new idea there before you test it with pesos.
Judging a method on a few trades
Winning 7 of 10 trades in one day does not prove a method works, because with so few trades luck can look like skill. Judge a method on at least 100 trades.
Taking a bonus without reading the rules
Deposit bonuses come with trading targets, and withdrawing early can cancel the bonus. The promo codes guide explains the rules. The download guide shows where to get the official app.
Practise on the demo first
You get a free $10,000 demo account with the same tools as the real account, and no deposit is needed.
Open free demo accountFrequently asked questions
Paano mag trade sa IQ Option?
Open a free demo account first, then pick an asset, enter the amount (at least ₱50 on a peso account), set the expiry and click Higher or Lower. The ticket shows your possible profit before you click, and the steps are in Your first trade, step by step.
Is the IQ Option demo account free?
Yes. It comes with $10,000 in virtual money, needs no deposit and can be topped up when the balance runs low, and it uses real market prices but no real money, so nothing on it can be withdrawn.
What is the minimum trade on IQ Option?
On the Binary and Blitz tickets we checked, the minimum on a peso account was ₱50, and if you type less the platform shows an error that says the minimum amount for the asset is 50. The minimum deposit is separate: ₱580 by GCash or Maya (see the deposit and withdrawal guide).
What is Blitz?
Blitz is a very short option: on the USD/PHP (OTC) ticket we used, the expiry was 30 seconds and the payout showed 85%. A ₱50 trade would give ₱42.50 profit if you are right and lose the ₱50 if you are wrong, and payouts change, so read the ticket each time.
What is OTC?
OTC assets are offered by IQ Option for options trading, including outside regular market hours, and their prices can differ from charts on other sites. The OTC section explains where the prices come from.
What is the difference between Binary and Digital options?
Binary gives a fixed payout, shown before you buy, if the price ends on the side you picked. Digital asks you to pick a direction and a strike price, and the payout depends on that strike. Both can lose the whole amount of the trade.
Can I trade IQ Option on weekends?
Forex and stock markets are closed at the weekend, but OTC assets are offered when those markets are closed, so some options can be traded. Check the asset list and the ticket in the platform for what is open.
Can I make money trading on IQ Option?
No one can promise it, and you can lose all the money you put in. A winning option pays less than 100% of the amount while a losing one costs all of it, so at an 85% payout you need to win about 54 trades in every 100 just to break even. See Can you make money? for the maths.
How much should I risk on one trade?
A common rule is no more than 2% of your account balance per trade, which is ₱200 on a ₱10,000 balance. Because the minimum trade is ₱50, a 2% stake of ₱50 needs a balance of at least ₱2,500. Use the risk calculator to check your own numbers.
Can I trade USD/PHP on IQ Option?
On the peso account we checked in October 2026, USD/PHP (OTC) was available as a Blitz option with a 30-second expiry and an 85% payout. Assets and payouts can change, so check the asset list.
